The lesson from this story about my mother is as follows: Whenever
a Jew makes a sincere decision to conduct himself according to the Torah and
disregard all obstacles and opposition, he will eventually succeed. Although is
goal may elude him for many years (as in the above-mentioned case, when for
years no one had been permitted to emigrate, and even those few privileged individuals
who left were certainly not allowed to take along any writings), in the end he
will attain it, for he is on a mission from G-d, and “the word of our G-d is forever.”
